Heating and Cooling System Overview
Even if you have a modern multi-zone automatic climate control system featured in more recent editions of the Toyota Tacoma or Camry, the technology works in essentially the same way as older models. For starters, HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, which has two independent systems of parts involved. In a vehicle, the warming capability functions by passing hot coolant over a heating core. This higher-temperature air is then passed through the vents. Meanwhile, the cooling system uses refrigerant and a compressor to force the former into a condenser. This allows cool outside air to absorb heat from the refrigerant, which provides a conditioned breeze to the cabin.
